Today’s Bomb Events

I am so not impressed with Washington State Ferry System and Homeland Security.

So; I’m waiting in the que to get on board my usual ferry at 12:25. At 12:40 they announce over the PA that there is a mechanical problem and apologize for the delay. At this point I leave the boarding area and notice there’s a KIRO 7 news chopper circling over the ferry terminal! Mechanical problem? I don’t think so! So I get on KIRO’s News site. Nothing yet. At 1:10 the terminal personnel shoo us away from the terminal. Still no word on why, but the State Patrol has arrived with the K-9 units. I go to Starbucks and check the KIRO site again at 1:20 and lo and behold, it’s a bomb threat. So; for almost forty minutes after WSF knew it was a bomb threat, they let the public hang around on the dock and the terminal. All of us for at least 30 minutes were left standing perhaps 100 feet from the boat. All they had to do was clear us off the dock as soon as they knew. We’ve been through this drill before about 2 months ago. Why did you delay this time?

Al is well but I’m still not impressed.
