Wave vs Buzz; what do you think?

Google Wave’s:

Rasmussen confirmed that while the projects are separate, Google employees have been using Buzz internally for months, including his team. Asked to explain the difference between the two products, he said Wave is designed around making users more productive in their work lives as a collaboration tool, while Buzz is more about “social sharing and passive sharing with people who are interested in what you think.”

Why do I spend some much energy on this kind of stuff? I.E.; social media, blogs, feedreaders, etc.? Maybe this is a partial explanation.

Clay Shirky believes we’re biased both to share and to like sharing digital information. Given the rate at which we create, share, and then discard digital goods, he may be right. The problem is that we’re now wading through digital debris, and there may be hard costs associated with our wastefulness.
